Thirty-seven people died on Sunday when a long-distance bus collided head-on with a lorry 80 km south of Harare on the road to the city of Masvingo.
Police spokesman Superintendent Andrew Phiri told Xinhua in a telephone interview that 33 people died on the spot, while another four died later.
The road accident also injured 29 others more.
Phiri said the accident happened around 8 a.m. local time on Sunday when the driver of the bus tried to overtake another vehicle in front of the on-coming lorry.
A passenger who was in the lorry died on the spot while the rest of the dead were from the bus.
