At least 50 militants were killed during the last 24 hours in the security forces' operation in Pakistan's tribal region, private Geo TV channel reported on Sunday.

The Geo quoted political official sources as saying that security forces launched the offensive in different areas of South Waziristan tribal agency, an area bordering Afghanistan.

One security man was killed and several were injured during the operation.

Security forces are still battling militants in Swat and other parts of North West Frontier Province.
