Adjust font size:

Two US citizens were detained by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on DPRK's northern bordering areas with China, South Korea's Yonhap News Agency reported on Thursday.

Two US female journalists were detained by DPRK authorities two or three days before when operating near the Tumen River, Yonhap quoted unnamed sources as saying.

The two journalists were detained when they kept on gathering news information despite DPRK officials' warning, it said.

Earlier report by local newspaper Munhwa Ilbo said one US female journalist, with her surname of Ming, was detained on Tuesday while working along the Yalu River.
