Dense fog may be one of the reasons for an army helicopter crash in Bangladesh's Tangail district on Monday morning, an official said.

Maksudur Rahman Patwari, the administrative chief of Tangail district, told Xinhua on Monday the helicopter was flying from Jessore, 164 km southwest of capital Dhaka to Ghatail Cantonment in Tangail district, around 80 km northwest of Dhaka, when it crashed.

"Dense fog may be one of the reasons of the crash," he said.

The helicopter crashed at around 8:30 a.m. (0230 GMT) Monday morning in a village of Tangail district, leaving two army officers killed.

Tangail Police Superintendent Abdul Mannan told Xinhua Major General Rafiqul Islam and Lieutenant Colonel Shaheed died in the crash and one officer was badly injured.

The injured officer named Major Saif was flown by a helicopter to Dhaka for treatment.
