China on Wednesday strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Pakistan.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said in a statement that the Chinese government expressed deep condolences to the victims and sincere sympathy to the wounded.

His comments came in response to a question concerning China's stance over the terror attack which caused at least seven deaths of Pakistani policemen and civilians.

Several members of Sri Lanka's cricket team members were wounded in the terrorist attack in eastern Pakistan city of Lahore on Tuesday. Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama, as a special envoy of Sri Lankan president, arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday to deal with the aftermath.

He was reported to hold meetings with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani and other senior officials, discussing the investigation of the terror attack.
