The taskforce charged with rebuilding towns after Australia's deadly bushfires said Saturday that a detailed plan will come out next week.
Major General John Cantwell, acting head of the Victorian Bushfire Reconstruction and Recovery Authority, said on Saturday that builders will start work in the next week.
However, he emphasized that the first thing they need to do is to ensure that survivors are safe, informed and given immediate shelter, family assistance and counseling.
After that, the taskforce will start clearing damaged areas, and return people to their places and rebuild communities safely and respectfully.
Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Christine Nixon, who will take over Cantwell's role next month said that people need to understand that the reconstruction effort would take some time.
She said there are still fires burning and identification of the deceased are still in the progress.
