Somali President Abdulahi Yusuf Ahmed on Tuesday named Mohamed Mohamoud Gamadere as new prime minister to replace Nur Hassan Hussien whom the president sacked on Sunday, a Somali member of Parliament told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
Yusuf announced the nomination of Gamadere, a MP and ally of the president, as new PM at a press conference in Baidoa, the seat of the Parliament.
The move came a day after the Parliament overwhelmingly endorsed the Prime Minister Nur Hassan Hussein and his government, overturning the president's decision of sacking Hussein.
Hussein, who has been in deep disagreement with Yusuf over a variety of issues, said he will leave office only after the Parliament votes against him.
