Vice-President Xi Jinping met here on Sunday with U.S. President George W. Bush, who is here for the Olympic Games.
Xi said he appreciated Bush's presence at the opening ceremony and related activities, which not only reflected his support for China's hosting of the Games but also his understanding of and respect for the Chinese people's anticipation of the event.
Xi wished the U.S. athletes would make great achievements in the Games.
In expressing his appreciation of China's hospitality, Bush said the opening ceremony was "unbelievable".
He praised the beautiful competition venues, adding that he is looking forward to watching some of the U.S. teams compete.
