China hopes to promote healthier and faster development of its
relations with Spain, China's Vice Premier Hui Liangyu said in
Madrid Sunday.
Hui said in a statement after his arrival at Madrid airport that
Spain is a civilized nation and has made great contribution to
world civilization and human progress.
Spain now plays an increasingly important role in fostering
world peace, stability and development, he added.
Hui said, "The Chinese government attaches great importance to
its ties with Spain. China also attaches importance to Spain's
important position and influence in Europe and on the international
stage."
In recent years, both leaders and staff from all levels have
enhanced exchanges, and the two nations have constantly
strengthened mutual political trust and trade and economic
cooperation, he said.
Hui said both sides maintain close communication and
coordination in a range of international affairs.
The vice premier said during the visit that he planned to meet
with Spanish leaders to further "enhance mutual understanding,
broaden consensus, promote healthy development of bilateral
relations."
Hui paid an official visit to Spain Sunday and will attend the
