Top legislator Wu Bangguo met in Beijing Thursday with Prime Minister of Barbados Owen Arthur.

Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, said since China and Barbados established diplomatic ties 30 years ago, the two countries have witnessed frequent high-level contacts, increasing political mutual trust and expanding trade and economic cooperation.

The two countries share the same or similar views on major international and regional issues and have close coordination in international affairs, Wu said.

China is willing to step up cooperation with Barbados in agriculture, finance and tourism so as to achieve a win-win outcome, Wu said, adding that he believed the friendly cooperation will make further progress with joint efforts from both sides.

Arthur reiterated that Barbados will adhere to the one-China policy, saying Barbados and China enjoy much common interests and similar views and Barbados will work with China to deepen cooperation in economy, tourism and education.

Arthur arrived in Beijing early Wednesday morning, kicking off a five-day official visit to China at the invitation of Premier Wen Jiabao.
