Top legislator Wu Bangguo met in Beijing Thursday with Prime
Minister of Barbados Owen Arthur.
Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's
Congress, said since China and Barbados established diplomatic ties
30 years ago, the two countries have witnessed frequent high-level
contacts, increasing political mutual trust and expanding trade and
economic cooperation.
The two countries share the same or similar views on major
international and regional issues and have close coordination in
international affairs, Wu said.
China is willing to step up cooperation with Barbados in
agriculture, finance and tourism so as to achieve a win-win
outcome, Wu said, adding that he believed the friendly cooperation
will make further progress with joint efforts from both sides.
Arthur reiterated that Barbados will adhere to the one-China
policy, saying Barbados and China enjoy much common interests and
similar views and Barbados will work with China to deepen
cooperation in economy, tourism and education.
Arthur arrived in Beijing early Wednesday morning, kicking off a
five-day official visit to China at the invitation of Premier Wen
Jiabao.
