A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) met in Beijing on Tuesday with a delegation from the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), pledging to further promote exchanges between the two parties.

At a meeting with a WPK delegation headed by Kim Jin-ha, Secretary of the municipal Party committee of Pyongyang, capital city of North Korea, Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, said relations between China and North Korea had developed well.

China would like to make joint efforts with North Korea to implement areas of consensus reached by top leaders on both sides and enrich cooperation in various fields, Wang said.

Echoing Wang's remarks, Kim said frequent inter-party exchanges between China and North Korea had contributed greatly to the development of bilateral relations, and the WPK hopes to pursue exchanges with the CPC.

Kim also briefed Wang on the current domestic situation in North Korea.
