Senior legislator Lu Yongxiang yesterday called for more
parliamentary exchanges between China and Germany.
Lu, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National
People's Congress (NPC), made the remarks when meeting with a
delegation from the German Federal Assembly, headed by Peter
Gauweiler, chairman of the Culture, Education and Policy Committee
of the Federal Assembly.
Lu spoke highly of the achievements made in developing
China-Germany relations as well as the sound cooperative ties
between the two parliaments.
"The Chinese NPC attaches great importance to its relations with
the German Federal Assembly, and hopes both sides could further
cement parliamentary cooperation as well as exchanges between
relevant committees," he said.
Gauweiler expressed his hope that the current China tour would
help facilitate the exchanges and cooperation between the German
Federal Assembly and the NPC.
