China's top judge Xiao Yang met in Shanghai Wednesday with the
presidents of the Supreme Courts of Shanghai Cooperation
Organization (SCO) members, in Shanghai, who are to attend the
first SCO supreme court presidents conference held from September
20 to 22.
Xiao, president of the Chinese Supreme People's Court, exchanged
views with the guests on issues including closer judicial
cooperation among SCO members, ways to improve the legal
environment of regional economic exchanges and ways to safeguard
regional peace and security.
Xiao met the presidents of the supreme courts of the Republic of
Kazakhstan, the Russian Union, the Republic of Tajikistan, and the
Republic of Uzbekistan. The president of the supreme court of the
Republic of Kyrgyzstan will arrive later.
Major topics for the meeting include the establishment of a
cooperation mechanism to deal with cross border crime and measures
to strengthen judicial cooperation in the fight against the "three
evil forces" of terrorism, extremism and separatism.
