Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf in Rawalpindi
Tuesday met with the visiting delegation of the Communist Party of
China (CPC) led by Liu Yunshan, a member of the CPC Central
Committee Political Bureau and also of the CPC Central Committee
Secretariat.
Musharraf and Liu held cordial and friendly talks on bilateral
relations and issues of common interest in the Pakistani army
headquarters in Rawalpindi, the twin city some 30 kilometers south
of the country's capital, Islamabad.
Liu conveyed Chinese President Hu Jintao's cordial greetings and
compliments to Musharaff.
Liu said that China and Pakistan are friendly neighbors linked
with mountains and seas and the two have a long history of friendly
and cooperative relationship. Since the establishment of the
diplomatic relations 55 years ago, he said, China and Pakistan have
developed an all-dimension cooperation and an all-weather
friendship, setting an example of friendly neighborhood between
countries of different social systems.
Liu said that China and Pakistan are good neighbors, good
friends and good partners. To strengthen the long lasting and
stable Sino-Pak strategic cooperative partnership is in the common
interest of the two countries and is in favor of the promotion of
the regional peace and stability, he said, adding that together
with Pakistan, China wishes to do its best for the constant
development of the strategic partnership to make it beneficial to
the two peoples.
Musharraf recalled the pleasant memories during his visit to
China last February and his presence at the summit of the Shanghai
Cooperation Organization last June.
Musharraf also asked Liu to convey his heartfelt regards to
President Hu. He expressed hope that the relationship between
Pakistan and China will be developing in the direction of all
dimensions and wide sectors.
Liu, also head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central
Committee, arrived with his delegation in Islamabad on August 28 to
begin a friendly visit to Pakistan at the invitation of the
Pakistan Muslim League.
On Tuesday afternoon, Liu met with Pakistani Prime Minister
Shaukat Aziz in Islamabad.
