Vice President Zeng Qinghong met with Mozambican Foreign
Minister Alcinda Abreu in Beijing on Wednesday, vowing to promote
bilateral friendly and cooperative ties.
Zeng said China and Mozambique enjoy traditional friendship,
which China treasures very much.
China is willing to work with Mozambique to improve the
friendship between the two countries, he said.
He said he appreciates the new Mozambican government's efforts
in promoting bilateral relations and its adherence to the one-China
stance since it was formed last year.
The two countries have made new progress in cooperation in all
fields and also kept close consultation and cooperation in
international affairs, he said.
The Chinese government will host China-Africa Cooperation Forum
in November in Beijing, and it is willing to cooperate with African
countries, including Mozambique, to hold a successful meeting and
push China-Africa relations forward, Zeng said.
Abreu said the new government of Mozambique is very satisfied
with the current friendly relationship with China.
She thanked China for its support and assistance to Mozambique
before and after its independence.
The new government will adhere to the one-China stance and is
willing to strengthen the cooperation with China in fields such as
trade and economy.
She expressed her appreciation of China's initiative in the
mechanism of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum, adding that
President Armando Emilio Guebuza will attend the forum.
She said she believes the forum will promote Africa-China
relations.
Abreu arrived here Tuesday for a visit to China from August 15
to 20, as her counterpart Li Zhaoxing's guest.
