China has become a major strategic partner of African countries
including Senegal, Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade said in
Dakar yesterday.
The Senegal-China relationship has been developing smoothly
since the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two
countries last October, Wade told Xinhua News Agency.
Wade said that Senegal and other African countries share common
views with China on international affairs and China is playing an
increasingly important role in the world.
He added that like that of most African countries, Senegal's
economic cooperation with China is conducted in a convenient,
direct and comfortable way, without any additional conditions or
delay, as is often the case in cooperation with Western
countries.
Wade expressed gratitude to China for assistance to Senegal.
On October 25, 2005, China and Senegal resumed diplomatic
relations that were severed in 1996.
