China is ready to work with Portugal on developing multi-level
and multi-dimension relations between the two armed forces, Defense
Minister Cao Gangchuan said in Beijing Monday.
In a meeting with his Portuguese counterpart Luis Amado, Cao
said frequent exchange of high-level visits and deepening
cooperation between the two countries in various fields contributed
a lot to the smooth development of state-to-state relations in
recent years.
As a key component of the overall relationship between China and
Portugal, relations between the two armed forces have kept moving
forward, said Cao, adding that the People's Liberation Army
attaches importance to enhancing friendly cooperation with the
Portuguese armed forces.
Cao also briefed the guest on China's views on major
international or regional issues and China's economic and social
development.
He reiterated China's principles and stance on the Taiwan
issue.
Amado said Portugal is looking forward to closer cooperation
with China in wider areas, and will make joint efforts with China
to cement relations between the two nations and armed forces, so as
to contribute to world peace and stability.
