Thousands on the run for cancer research
Adjust font size:

Nearly 7,000 people braved bad weather to take part in the Shanghai Charity Run at Century Park yesterday.

The event, organized by the Shanghai Charity Foundation, raised funds for cancer research in Shanghai. Proceeds will go to the Shanghai Charity Cancer Research Center and Shanghai Ruijin Hospital.

The Shanghai Golden Grand Prix donated part of their ticket revenue to the center. Five percent of the cost of Grand Prix tickets bought by individuals or companies taking part in the run went to the center, officials said.

The Terry Fox Charity Run, named after the Canadian cancer patient who created the event, has been staged in Shanghai for 11 years.

It was renamed the Shanghai Charity Run last year.
