The Hong Kong Center for Health Protection confirmed Monday the year's third streptococcus infection case in Hong Kong, involving a 71-year-old woman.

According to a press release from the center, the woman came down with fever and headache on August 16 and was admitted to the hospital. She is stable at present.

She had no recent travel history and her home contacts have no symptoms, the press release said.

Hong Kong recorded six streptococcus infections in 2007, eight in 2006 and 13 in 2005.
