Number of Macao's enterovirus cases reaches 241

Some 241 enterovirus cases, comprising hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) and herpangina (mouth blisters), were confirmed in Macao as of Thursday, according to the city's Health Bureau.

Four new enterovirus cases were reported on Thursday, with one confirmed EV71 (enterovirus 71) infections, the bureau announced, adding that the number of EV71 infections has amounted to 28 so far.

Most of the local enterovirus patients were children enrolled in local creches and primary schools.
