Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has concluded a two-day state visit to China, leaving last night.

During the visit, President Hu Jintao held talks with Medvedev, where the two heads of state spoke highly of the establishment and development of the Sino-Russian strategic partnership of coordination and vowed to jointly make further efforts to push forward this partnership.

China's top legislator Wu Bangguo, top political adviser Jia Qinglin and Vice President Xi Jinping also met Medvedev.

After the talks, Hu and Medvedev signed a joint statement on major international issues and attended the signing ceremony for several documents on bilateral cooperation in such fields as energy, aviation, forestry and tourism.

The countries issued a joint communique on the talks of the two heads of state.

Medvedev laid a wreath at the Monument to the People's Heroes in Tian'anmen Square and gave a speech at Peking University.

On behalf of the Russian government, Medvedev invited some primary and middle-school students from the quake-hit areas to recover in Russia.

As a guest of Hu, Medvedev started his first China visit on Friday. He was the first head of state to pay a state visit to China since the devastating earthquake hit southwest Sichuan Province on May 12.

The trip was also Medvedev's first visit outside the Commonwealth of Independent States since he was sworn in on May 7.

Hu accepted Medvedev's invitation to visit Russia in 2009, according to the communique.

The two sides expressed satisfaction with the demarcation work on two parts of the eastern section of the China-Russia border, and their opposition to politicizing the Olympics.

The Russian side reiterated its position on Taiwan, acknowledging that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China.

The Russian side also stated that Tibet is an inalienable part of China's territory.

Russia will continue to provide aid for China's quake-stricken area.
