In a bid to strengthen the prevention measures against the spreading A/H1N1 flu epidemic, the government of Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Tuesday announced that it will set up a multi-department emergency and coordination center that is dedicated to handling all the prevention and control works.
According to a directive from the SAR's Chief Executive (CE) Ho Hau Wah, the new center will be headed by the CE and comprises officials from the SAR government's health, customs, police, education departments, etc.
The responsibility of the center includes drawing out the prevention plan in various epidemic phases, coordinating resources and implementation of measures, and initiating emergency actions if necessary, according to the directive which was published on the Official Gazette.
Statistics from the SAR's Health Bureau showed that there was no suspected or confirmed case reported in Macao by far.
