Wang Yang Re-elected Party Chief of Chongqing

Wang Yang was elected secretary of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Sunday.

Wang, born in March 1955, was elected to the post at the first plenary session of the 3rd CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee held in the southwestern Chongqing Municipality.

Wang is a native of Suzhou in east China's Anhui Province, and he joined the CPC in 1975.

He is now an alternate member of the 16th CPC Central Committee and has served as secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee since Dec. 2005.
