Luo Baoming, a 54-year-old native of north China's Tianjin, was appointed acting governor of the country's southernmost province of Hainan yesterday.

He replaces former governor Wei Liucheng, who was named secretary of the Hainan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China.
