Gan Yisheng has been elected vice secretary of the Central
Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of
China (CPC).
The appointment was announced at the Seventh Plenary Session of
the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI), which
concluded on Wednesday.
Gan was previously director of the legal affairs office of the
CCDI. From November 1998 to December 2002, he was Vice Minister of
Supervision. Since November 2002, he has been CCDI
secretary-general and a member of the Standing Committee of the
CCDI.
Gan was also the spokesman of CCDI in dealing with the case of
the former Party chief of Shanghai Chen Liangyu, who was sacked for
his involvement in a social security fund scandal last
September.
