The candidate namelist for top leaders of the China's highest political advisory body, the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), was finalized Wednesday afternoon and is ready for adoption on Thursday.
The 3rd meeting of the First Session of the CPPCC National Committee passed the namelist of the National Committee's chairperson, vice-chairpersons, secretary-general and Standing Committee members after consultations among the National Committee members. It was decided at the meeting the namelist would be presented for voting at a plenum of the CPPCC National Committee Thursday afternoon. The election methods were also adopted.
Du Qinglin, head of the United Front Work Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), said the National Committee members have deliberated the draft namelist earnestly in a highly responsible manner.
The members all indicated support to the nominees proposed by the CPC Central Committee while making some suggestions.
The CPPCC is a patriotic united front organization of the Chinese people, serving as a key mechanism for multi-party cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of the CPC, and a major manifestation of socialist democracy.
The CPPCC consists of representatives of the CPC and non-Communist parties, personages without party affiliation, and representatives of people's organizations, ethnic minorities and various social strata.
It also has the representation of compatriots of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, returned overseas Chinese, and specially invited people.
According to Du, members agreed that the persons who are to enter the new CPPCC leadership meet the requirements on competence and qualifications for shouldering duties in the new CPPCC Nation Committee.
They said that the CPC Central Committee has organized extensive democratic recommendation and consultations in proposing the nominees, and the recommendation and nomination have been carried out strictly according to the CPPCC constitution and the procedures of the CPC Central Committee for personnel work.
