A shipment of anti-SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome)
supplies donated by people of Chinese descent and by overseas
Chinese residing in San Francisco, CA, the United States, arrived
in Beijing Saturday afternoon.
The donations, the second shipment of its kind, arrived at Beijing
Capital International Airport via Air China flight CA986. The
transport was free of charge.
The Beijing Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau received the supplies,
which consisted of 11,000 gauze masks, 7,000 exposure suits, 1,000
surgical caps, 1,000 pairs of surgical gloves, 900 pairs of
surgical footwear and articles used in disinfection.
The first batch of the supplies, which arrived in Beijing on May 4
and consisted of 2,000 exposure suits, has been distributed by the
bureau to front-line anti-SARS medical staff.
