WHO Experts Team Arrives in Shanghai

A World Health Organization (WHO)experts team arrived in Shanghai Monday morning for a four-day visit for severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) prevention and treatment.

The experts team comprises James Maguire, Wolfgang Preiser, Keigi Fukuda, Daniel Chin and Li Ailan.

Xu Ruiheng, an official with the Guangdong Provincial Center for Disease Prevention and Control, will also join the team in their Shanghai stay.

The six-member team is expected to confer with local health authorities, inspect hospitals, colleges and local disease controlcenters at the municipal and district levels, and examine measures taken to prevent and control SARS cases.

Shanghai had reported two SARS cases by April 18.
