Two giant pandas fought each other for about 50 minutes while dozens of onlookers watched in amazement at the Kung Fu Panda show on Sunday in Ya'an City, Sichuan Province, Chengdu Business Daily reported today. |
The fight happened in Ya'an Bifengxia Base at the China Panda Protection Center in the afternoon. Visitors said it was like watching a live action version of the Hollywood animated film
Kung Fu Panda as the animals started the fight on the ground but eventually moved into a tree.
The two grappled with each other on the ground for about 30 minutes. They rolled around and used all four legs to kick each other. Sometimes one panda would stand on its hind legs and throw itself at the other, the report said, which added that neither animal was injured.
Pandas communicate when they fight, an employee of the center told the newspaper. The fight will usually end if a panda gives a "hengheng" sound to express pain of unhappiness.
Visitors used mobile phone cameras or video recorders to capture the scene and people cheered continuously, the newspaper said.
Eventually, one panda climbed a tree and the other followed to continue the fight. They bit each other several times before stopping the fight after about 10 minutes in the tree.
The onlookers expressed surprise that pandas could be so lively, the report said.
