China plans to invest 9.08 billion yuan (about US$1.28 billion) on water pollution control projects in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality by 2010 to prevent pollution of the Three Gorges Reservoir area, an official said on Monday.
The revised edition of the water pollution prevention and control program of the Three Gorges Reservoir area and the upper reaches, which has been approved by the State Council, includes 271 pollution control projects in Chongqing, a local official said.
The investment will go to urban sewage treatment, urban garbage disposal and industrial pollution control projects.
