The delegates include, APEC Executive Secretary Ambassador Muhamad Noor, Malaysia's Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Datuk Seri Douglas Uggah Embas, and Peru's Minister of Agriculture Miguel Caillaux Zazzali.

Jia said he appreciates the full support received from APEC's Secretariat in helping China launch the meeting. Jia also expressed appreciation for the role played by the ministers from Malaysia and Peru in acting as co-chairmen of the meeting.

Ambassador Muhamad Noor said that, as the first forestry ministerial meeting in Asia, the conference will promote the development of forestry and the cooperation among countries in the Asian-Pacific region.

The meeting will be held from Sept. 6 to Sept. 8 and the theme will be sustainable growth, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said on Monday.

The ministers and other high-ranking officials will gather in Beijing to discuss how sustainable forestry development can boost economic and social development in the Asia-Pacific region, Jiang said.
