Newer houses on the southwest side of Minot, North Dakota, are seen submerged in flood waters June 25, 2011. The rapidly rising Souris River poured over flood defenses in North Dakota, overwhelming efforts to delay the deluge and forcing the immediate evacuation of thousands of homes. Flood projections have forecasted about 18 more inches of water before levels begin dropping.
