Some grey cranes rest at the Hongyashan Reservoir, the largest desert reservoir in Asia, in Minqin County, northwest China's Gansu Province, April 9, 2011. Since 2006, China has made efforts to control desertification and sandification and rebuild the ecological system in the valley of Shiyang River. The environment of the Hongyashan Reservoir located in the downstream of Shiyang River has remarkably improved, attracting numerous rare birds to inhabit there. [Xinhua]
