Sweden to invest heavily for toxin-free environment

Sweden will invest 100 million kronor (15 million U.S. dollars) through 2014 to ensure a toxin-free environment for children, the country's environment minister says.
"Parents must feel safe when their children contact with hormone damaging things or other things that can seriously damage their life later," Environment Minister Andreas Carlgren said at a press conference Tuesday.
"Children, including the unborn, are generally more vulnerable than adults to dangerous chemicals. The goal is to create an everyday environment that is free of dangerous chemicals such as lead," Carlgren said.
A specific action plan has been drawn and handed over to the environment ministry. The project will last for four years starting from this year to 2014.
The budget for each year is 25 million kronor (4 million U.S. dollars), aiming to identify dangerous chemicals in work and daily life, for example in children's toys.
