Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi said on Wednesday that his country has been working hard to reduce carbon emission in a bid to achieve the designated goal by 2020.
Meles made the remarks at a meeting here with US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lisa P. Jackson, according to a statement released by the Ethiopian Foreign Ministry.
He said Ethiopia has worked out a national strategy to reduce carbon emission, including alterative energy sources such as hydroelectric and wind power.
Ethiopia has also launched an extensive afforestation campaign to rehabilitate the environment.
Jackson said the United States would support Ethiopia in its endeavor to reduce carbon emission and e-waste management.
