Ten million Shanghai residents will now get drinkable tap water from the Qingcaosha reservoir after it is put into formal use in December. The project, covering 70 square kilometers at the mouth of the Yangtze River, is expected to supply 7.19 million cubic meters of drinking water each day. With an investment of 17 billion yuan ($2.56 billion), the new reservoir will combat water shortages and quality. [China Daily/CFP]
