Indonesia will rehabilitate and reconstruct disaster-hit areas in 2010-2012, reviving economy, reconstructing housing and infrastructures and relocating people, a minister said here on Wednesday.

Minister of National Development Planning Armida Alisjahbana told a parliamentary hearing that her ministry, the National Agency for Disaster Management and local governments have submitted to Vice President Boediono their action plans to rehabilitate and reconstruct Wasior district that was hit by a recent flash flood.

"Meanwhile, today we conducted a coordination meeting in Padang of West Sumatra province to finalize the rehabilitation and reconstruction process for Mentawai Islands that was hit by earthquake and tsunami. The process is conducted as disaster mitigation process has just finished," she said.

The minister said disaster in Wasior has brought loss of 280.5 billion rupiah (about 31.2 million U.S. dollars) and it would need rehabilitation and reconstruction fund of 370.3 billion rupiah ( about 41.3 million U.S. dollars).

"Meanwhile, disaster in Mentawai Island caused loss of 314 billion rupiah (about 35 million U.S. dollars) and needs rehabilitation and reconstruction fund of 356 billion rupiah ( about 39.7 million U.S. dollars)," she said.

The fund for rehabilitation and reconstruction caused by volcano eruption of Mount Merapi has not been counted as the mitigation process is not over yet.

Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo said his ministry has allocated 6.24 trillion rupiah (about 695.6 million U.S. dollars) for addressing the impact of disasters.
