A cold front will bring rainfall and temperature drops to China's northeastern region over the next three days, China's National Meteorological Center (NMC) forecast Thursday.
The NMC said showers and thunderstorms will put an end to a rare stretch of prolonged hot weather in the region.
In Harbin, a major city in China's far northeast, temperatures may drop to 28 or 29 degrees Celsius from 36 degrees Celsius, the NMC said.
Harbin endured three consecutive days of hot weather in early June, a rare occurrence.
The NMC also forecast heavy rains to hit south China, including Guangdong Province and parts of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Thunderstorms will also hit central and southern parts of south China.
The rains in south China will continue into next week, when China will celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival, a traditional Chinese holiday, the NMC said.
