An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale struck north of White Island in New Zealand North Island's Bay of Plenty on Sunday morning, the GNS Science said.
The quake was centered 70 km north of White Island at a depth of 240 km, the New Zealand Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences reported.
It struck at 07:43 a.m. local time Sunday (1843 GMT Saturday) and have been felt in parts of the North Island such as Hawke's Bay.
The quake caused no casualties or damages.
