Residents were forced to leave their homes on Tuesday as two bushfires blazed across Western Australia's wheatbelt region.

A bushfire emergency warning was issued by the Fire and Emergency Services Authority (FESA) for people in the shires of Toodyay and Dandaragan, located north-east of Perth.

Residents were advised to leave their homes immediately as a fast moving and unpredictable fire was burning nearby.

"If you are in this area your best option for survival is away from the fire," FESA said.

"Relocating at the last minute is deadly."

More than 100 volunteer Fire and Rescue Service and Bush Fire Service firefighters and farm units were on the scene.

Two fixed wing aircraft were also being used to protect crews and homes.

A severe fire danger rating is in place for the area, while other parts of the state remain under a catastrophic fire danger warning.
