China's forest fire authority warns of fires

China's State Forest Fire Prevention Headquarters issued an orange alert Monday to warn of forest fires as some parts have been affected by drought since the beginning of autumn.
Temperatures in some parts of the country's north, northeast, and southwest areas have been higher than the same period last year, the headquarters said.
In the current eight-day National Day holiday starting Oct. 1, there are more human travels, which impose greater challenges to forest fire management, it said.
A forest fire broke out on Oct. 3 in Pingle County of south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. About 200 hectares of forest land was burned. Nearly 3,000 firefighters and soldiers were trying to put out the fire. No casualties were reported.
Investigation showed the fire was started by some locals who burned incense and paper as sacrificial offerings at the Mid-Autumn Festival.
