Rex Features Lindsay Lohan wants her new album to have a dance sound similar to Kylie Minogue and Rihanna.
The actress said she had high hopes for her third studio outing and is keen to tour on the back of it.
She told Now: "I want it to be dance. I want it to be kind of Kylie Minogue meets Rihanna. I hope to tour with it and I hope to really promote it."
Lohan said she did not intend to drag up her recent troubles in the songs, telling People: "I think the past is the past and it should be kept there. It's a new slate for me, and I want to show that in my new record."
Her 2004 album Speak reached number four in the Billboard 200, but her follow-up A Little More Personal peaked at 20 and was poorly received by critics.
Singer Ne-Yo recently confirmed rumours that he was working on material for her.
