Actor Heath Ledger's abuse of heroin, cocaine and pills forced
his ex-fiancee Michelle Williams to send him to rehab in 2006,
Us Weekly reported Thursday.
A Ledger confidant was quoted as saying Williams had been a
firsthand witness to the Brokeback Mountain actor's use of
alcohol and drugs for three years. It included cocaine, heroin and
"a variety of pills."
Williams drove Ledger to Promises Treatment Center in Malibu,
Calif. in March 2006.

Ledger refused to check in, pledging to clean up, the source
said.
After the couple split in September 2007, two sources told
Us Weekly that Williams asked Ledger to be drug-tested
before he visited their daughter Matilda.
When news of Ledger's death broke last week, Williams was
inconsolable, another source said.
"She cried and screamed as soon as she heard."
Williams' movie, Blue Valentine, has been postponed
until further notice. She was too distraught to return to work.

A Paramount spokeswoman said that Williams' other film,
Shutter Island, co-starring Leonardo DiCaprio, was still
scheduled to begin shooting March 6.
Ledger was found him dead last week in his apartment.
An autopsy on the 28-year-old actor was inconclusive and the
cause of his death will not be known for at least a week.
Authorities suspect a possible drug overdose.
