Veteran actress Liu Xiaoqing starred in "The Last Night of
Taipan Chin" on Friday, where the musical drama was staged for the
first time in Taipei, Taiwan.
Adapted from the homonymic novel by Taiwan's famous writer Pai
Hsien-yung, the drama has received great acclaim from audiences in
other cities, including Shanghai and Hangzhou.
Liu Xiaoqing was one of China's most successful actresses in the
1980s, appearing in the movies "The Little Flower" and "Hibiscus
Town".
Liu's fame was eclipsed by actress Gong Li in the 1990s. Earlier
this decade, Liu was back in the media spotlight when she was
accused of evading taxes for her business venture.
