Last year's Chinese box office winner Crazy Stone will
soon take to the drama stage, as part of the already popular drama
series Kaixin Mahua, or Happy Chinese
Doughnut.
The drama-versioned Crazy Stone will be directed by
Shen Teng, director of Kaixin Mahua III. Ning Hao,
director of the "Stone" film, will be producer of his drama
version. The "Stone" drama will use the storyline of the film, but
this time, the stone will be changed into a diamond from the
original emerald.
The lead actors from the Kaixin Mahua series and some
main actors of the film will this time perform the story on
stage.
The drama will premiere on August 8 in Beijing's Haidian
Theatre. It will tour to many other cities in this October.
A low-budget film, Crazy Stone raked in more than 30
million yuan (US$3.9 million) at the Chinese box office last
year.
It's the fourth year that the Kaixin Mahua series is
put on stage and is regarded as a comedy brand by drama audiences
in the Chinese capital.
