Apparently Shanghai's weather is not favourable for the
performance of the blockbuster musical Mama Mia!.
In a cruel twist of fate, the shows three main cast members have
all been struck down with illness. This meant the cancelling of
their fifth show last night at Shanghai's Grand Theatre.
Caught out unexpectedly, the musical's European production
company, Little Star, said they hadn't encountered a similar
situation before. The company is famous for its professionalism,
from stage design, costume management to the catering services for
its actors.
To ensure the ongoing performance of the musical, substitute
main actors are flying out from London today, according to source
with the Shanghai Grand Theatre.
In order to give Beijing audience a successful show, Zhongyan or
the China Art and Entertainment Group, the musical's Beijing
promoter, said they will assist Little Star in providing additional
medical support. A total of eight physicians are on standby to
safeguard the health of the actors.
