A film telling revolutionary Sun Yet-sen's love story, entitled
Road to Dawn, premiered in Beijing on Thursday at the
Great Hall of the People.
The 16-million yuan project was shot in Penang, an island city
with splendid scenery located in north-west Malaysia. The film
portrays Sun Yet-sen in 1910, when he took refuge in Penang after
his ninth armed uprising against the Qing government of Guangzhou
failed.
The film stars Taiwan actor Winston Chao in the leading role as
a 44-year-old Sun Yet-sen, with Chinese mainland actress Wu Yue as
his second wife Chen Cuifen, and Malaysian actress Angelica Lee as
the daughter of a local business tycoon.
Winston Chao just won a Most Popular Actor Award at the Shanghai
International Film Festival, held from June 16 to 24, for his vivid
performance in the film. This has been the third time for the
47-year-old actor to play the role of Sun Yet-sen.
The film is slated for general release across China on June
29.
