Chinese former diving athlete Tian Liang, nicknamed "Diving
Prince" for his handsome figure, will dive back into the water this
summer to shoot his first film.
This marks a major development for the once popular athlete
following his retirement from diving in April. Tian's decision
illustrates a growing trend as athletes increasingly earn
additional income from the entertainment or marketing industry.
The film Chu Shui Fu Rong, or Bathing Beauty,
will feature a collection of Chinese mainland and Hong Kong stars,
including mainland actress Eva Huang, Hong Kong pop idol Gillian
Chung, one of the Twins, and Hong Kong heartthrob Stephen Fung.
The movie plot will revolve around the trials and tribulations
of a swim team. Additional cast members will be selected from a
pool of applicants, including online celebrity Sister Furong.
The film's director, Hong Kong comedy master Jeffrey Lau, will
arrive in Beijing on June 15 along with cast members to interview
applicants.
