The largest Chinese movie festival in South Africa has been
launched in the city of Johannesburg, South Africa.
Deputy-director of China's State Administration of Radio, Film
and Television or SARFT, Zhao Shi, and some 400 officials and local
movie fans have attended the opening ceremony of the three-week
long event.
"We have brought to the local audiences eight stories and
documentaries produced by Chinese directors. Their unique movies
reflect Chinese history, culture and the contemporary situation
since the opening-up policy took effect in China."
The movie festival is jointly held by SARFT, the Chinese Embassy
in South Africa and the Ministry of Arts and Culture.
