Paramount's latest work Transformers will open for
Chinese fans on July 11th, just one week after its worldwide
premiere.
The domestic portal, Sina.com, reported on Friday that the movie
has passed the scrutiny of the state film bureau, citing a source
from the Huaxia Film Group, the importer of the movie.
Liu Shusen, chief of the film group, says that they are now
discussing the promotional details of the movie with Paramount,
adding they may invite its production team to come to China.
However, the arrival of Transformers may delay the
showing of another much anticipated Hollywood blockbuster,
Harry Potter and The Order Of The Phoenix, which was
scheduled to arrive in Chinese theaters in the second half of
July.
Gao Jun from the Beijing New Film Association says that the
delay was because the two movies have the same target audience.
The fifth of the "Harry Potter" series may open to the public on
August 15. However, Warner Bros. China has not verified the
schedule, and is still trying to get it on screen in mid-July as
originally planned.
